Foard Construction is a fifth generation owned and operated, full-service Commercial General Contractor with history in Charlotte dating back to the late 1800s. We have been a client focused and value driven construction company for over 115 years. With four licensed general contractors on staff, and a vast team of construction professionals, we are equipped to manage almost any project. Our mission is to provide superior customer service and invaluable expertise to our clients while delivering construction excellence.

J.D. Foard begins construction work in Charlotte under the name of J.D. Foard, Contractor.
1908
While building Capt. E.B. Laird’s home on West Trade Street, a change order for $40.00 is issued for a vast amount of work.
1922
Ernest Foard joins the company, and the name changes to J.D. Foard and Son, General Contractors.
1930
J.D. Foard retires, and the name changes to Ernest Foard, General Contractor.
1950
Richard Foard, Sr., son of Ernest Foard, joins the company.
1960
Kenneth Foard, son of Ernest Foard, joins the company and the name changes to Foard Construction Company.
1971
Richard Foard, Jr., son of Richard Foard, Sr., joins the Company.
1977
Gary Foard, son of Richard Foard Sr., joins the company.
1991
Foard Construction becomes an Authorized Builder for American Buildings.
1993
The company merges to form Foard-Collins-Doerre Construction, Company LLC.
2000
Company restructures to form Foard-Collins Construction Company, LLC.
2003
Company restructures to form Foard Construction Company.
2005
801 Central receives the AIA Charlotte Honor Award & The Carole Hoefener Carriker Sustainabile Design Award.
2009
YMCA Camp Thunderbird – Duke Energy Pavilion, a Foard Construction project, receives the AIA North Carolina Wood Design Award.
2013
The Elizabeth Community Association Newsletter publishes an article about the history of the company.
2013
Foard Construction receives an award from the United States Tennis Association for their contribution to the Carmel Country Club Tennis Complex.
